Photo Friday: Luxembourg Garden Carousel in Paris
When we first visited the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris it felt like every storybook image of children in parks was brought into reality. That's certainly because so many of the park's features, like this carousel, have shown up in classic photos, storybooks and movies. As the children ride the carousel, they try to catch a brass ring. There's no prize, just the satisfaction of accompishment.

I love your picture. It's funny, I almost posted one of my son riding this same carousel - we have one of him actually catching the brass rings! Maybe another week.
The playground next to the carousel was just about the best one I'd ever seen. My children were completely enchanted. This was one of their favorite things to do in Paris, and we never even made it to the marionette show. Adam Gopnik has a great description of his son riding on this in his book *Paris to the Moon.*
Thanks for taking me to my happy place!

I love taking photos of carousels. The animals on them are usually nicely detailed and gorgeous. This photo is especially nice because it conveys the carousel's rapid revolution.
As you can see, I'm back home now and was able to access my photo files :)

Beautiful. I love that you let it blur to show the motion. Children are really about motion.

Lovely picture and nice collection again!
I am getting a bunch of posts up for the disadvantaged kids in NYC we take with us virtually, so just added mine through twitpics. Ah, the joys of blogging while traveling the world. ;) I am trying to do all my internet work in 24hrs once a week.
We really are loving Sweden ( right on a lake now near Copenhagen our next stop) and we all had a ball at the Ice Bar. It is not really a kid thing, but our 7 year old just adored it!!
They have a whole ice hotel, but it is only open in winter, so this was the next best thing. Everything is ice including your glass, tables, bar, walls, sculptures, chairs and a flat screen TV!!
You have to go through several sealed doors and don the winter duds. It was warm and sunny outside, so big change of pace and a giggle. A blond god and goddess assist you. ;)
Oh, one sits on reindeer hides atop the ice chairs. Reindeer and elk are very big in Scandinavia....we even ate some along with whale...but that is another story.
Check out the Ice Bar or Hotel someday!

I love carousels - they seem magical somehow!
I have just moved house and I'm sans internet at home for a week or two... so just catching up on all the pics now.
Thanks to everyone who has left a comment for me on my blog.
