Hi there,
We are flying to Majorca in September with our son who will then be 11 months.
We do not have transfers arranged from the airport as we are staying in a villa. We do not want to hire a car is we can avoid it - do we need to take an infant carrier for the taxi journey, or do some cabs have car seats?
Or will we just have to hire a car?!
Many thanks,
Vicki

On occasion you can find a car service that will provide an car seat. Use google and your guidebook to search for services, and call or send them email to ask about car seats . Keep in mind that they might not know what type of seat is appropriate for an 11 month old, so you might end up with a booster instead of a convertible toddler seat that can be used rear-facing. There is also no guarantee that the seat you get will be clean and in good working order. Your safest bet is to bring your own (or use public transportation if you can)
When public transportation is near (but not at) our destination, we will sometimes send one parent in a taxi with all the baggage while the other walks with the stroller. It's a bit of a hassle, (and of course I'm always exhausted after the long flight) but the walk does me and the kids some good
Good luck!

Hi! I'm traveling with my 5month old to Chicago in may. We are going to be staying downtown and I'm contemplating whether or not to rent a car. Should I rent a car? Is it safe to take the subway with a baby? Thanks.

Mai,
As long as you are traveling during heavy-use hours, the subway should be fine.

Hi, we are traveling to London and will arrive at 6am London time, midnight our time. My 3 kids, 10, 7, and 5 will have only slept for about 4 pr 5 hours on the plane. When we get there our flat wont be ready form us until 2pm. What do I do with 3 over tired children from 6 am till check in. Any suggestions would be great..... We will not have a car or stroller. We can ditch our bags, which will help..
Thanks:)

Charlotte,
After a long plane flight, a good breakfast would be welcome. I would use Yelp to look for a recommendation near the apartment (or ask the apartment management). After that, I would head to a playground. If the weather is too cold, I would head to the Science Museum which has a nice play area in the basement.

So we travelled to washington recently, it was a much shorter ride than the 10 hours we are looking at to go to Germany in 4 weeks. First round DS screamed for the first half, peed on me (never using those daipers again) slept for a little bit but didnt for long he was so uncomfy (lap child) I asked myDH if we could be the last ones off so everyone could get off before my raging toddler. Getting off the plane i go to buckle him into his stroller still covered in pee and the pilot is tapping his foot at me.
Needless to say im terrified to go to Germany now. Help!!!

Shanon,
I hope this trip goes better! Bring along plenty of diapers and spare clothing as well as snacks and activities to keep him busy. You don't say whether you offered a sippy at takeoff, but that might help with any discomfort.
Good luck!
