Disney's new Aulani resort is meant to be a playground for the entire family. In addition to luxuriously appointed rooms, there are pools, water play areas, lazy river, an absolutely beautiful spa, and several restaurants. Aulani's protected lagoon provides a wave-free beach for splashing, swimming and even snorkeling. Childcare is included at Auntie's beach house, a huge facility that accommodates children aged 3 and up. more

The Embassy Suites Waikiki Beachwalk is in some ways nothing like the urban Embassy Suites you may have experienced. It has all the amenities you expect, like a breakfast buffet (served in the huge outdoor lanai, a manager's reception (with live Hawaiian music), and all suites rooms complete with microwave, refrigerator, mini-bar, and free wifi. Instead of being built around a central courtyard, two huge towers look over a central pool and lanai. Rooms are lighter and brighter than than the typical Embassy suites and have a tropical feel. The bedding, including down pillows are a nicer grade than at most Embassy Suite locations. The breakfast here is huge and includes both American options like french toast, pancakes and made-to-order omelets, and Japanese options like miso soup, fried rice and salad. more
Hilton Hawaiian Village

Though we haven't stayed here, the Hilton Hawaiian Village has a great reputation with visiting families. There's a large beach (it's public access and many families come here for the day even if they're not staying at the resort), loads of resident wildlife, and a family pool with a waterslide, waterfalls and more. Kids age 5-12 can participate in a half-day or full-day camp like program while their parents explore Oahu (extra charge, sign up in advance) more
Sheraton Waikiki

The recently renovated Sheraton Waikiki has a lovely pool overlooking Waikiki beach, and a special kids splash area. There's also a drop-in day care, and in-hotel shopping. The Sheraton's farm-to-table buffet offers free or reduced price meals for children, depending on age. There's also poolside dining and even a hot dog shack. more

New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel
It has a secluded beach out back which is perfect for the kids and if the waves and sand get tiresome, they always love running around at the huge kapiolani park across the street. more
